HIDDEN GEMS Online Course

For individuals who want to obtain professional development that counts toward GCDF certification or merely to learn about various interactive webtools that you can use with clients of students to help them with their career choices, this online course is just for you.  Successful completion of the courses will result in a certificate verifying the completion of 6 (or 12) contact hours for your professional development.  For those of you that wish to use this for your GCDF recertification, these two courses have been pre-approved by the Center for Credentialing and Education for that purpose.

You can take Hidden Gems Part 1 for 6 contact hours of credit.  Part 1 is a prerequisite for part 2. 

Part 1 includes 15 activities/webtools that cover these three areas:

Identifying Interests and Skills

Finding Occupational Information

Improving Job Skills

Part 2 includes 14 activities/webtools in the following three areas:

Finding Education and Training Programs

Finding and Landing  Job

Making a Career Transition

The text book for the course is Job Seekers Online Goldmine which will be sent to you when you register for Part 1 of the course.  This is the same textbook that is used in part 2.

What you need to complete this course:

Inernet access -- high speed is preferable.

Ability to read MS Word documents

Adober Reader to access pdf documents

Ability to hear mp3 files

The Goldmine textbook

The discipline to work on the course on your own.

There is a timelimit.

You will have 6 seeks to complete each part of the course is you sign up for each part individually.  If you sign up for both parts and the same time, you will have 12 weeks to complete the course.  If you do not complete the course in the timeline offered, you will need to re-register for the course and will have to pay ad additional $50 percent.  The second round of the course will need to be completed in 3 weeks (or 6 weeks) if you signed up for both parts of the course at the same time.

When you start the course.

After receipt of payment, you will be sent an invitation email from pbwiki (the course host).  You will need to click on the link provided
